Have A Nice Walk

On my walk this evening - I experienced boundless tastes of the beauty this life offers.

I made my way out of this enchanted Airbnb with magic pushing his way past me into the middle of this captivating driveway.

Magic turned around to look at me and my knees buckled...

He was standing in the driveway while the sun was just at magic hour - golden with every color vibrantly taking its seat in the front row of life.

I had, once again, stepped deeply into the dream.

Magic’s eyes lit up with wonder - his ears pulled back slightly saying “mom! come play with me in this wondrous world!’

I smiled, walked towards him and said ‘tonights our night Mag - lets really take this one in.”

Right now in life things are winding down to another now moment where Magic and my entire life changes forever.

We are about to embark on a journey in just a few days across the country to our new home.

As we continued to walk down this winding road on the top of the Hollywood Hills - the smell of jasmine filled the air - magic’s favorite flower.

As we approached this forever bush of purples and pinks I turned around to find magic’s face stuffed in the middle smelling the white jasmine flowers sprinkled within.

I sat there staring at him - witnessing how much he himself takes this life in - for all it’s artistry.

We continued our walk as I started to tune it with some free flowing piano music.

I could swear - every piece of Mother Earth started to dance with us.

The hummingbirds started to zip around us - the trees swaying with every key - Komorebi filled our world in just a mear step - a half a blink.

Komorebi translates as “the scattered light that filters through when sunlight shines through trees”.

The squirrels were dancing around the branches and following us down the power lines.

Magic looked back at me “Mom! do you see this? can you feel this?”

I said out loud, “Yes son, I am here, I am playing too, I feel it all.”

We continued down the hill.

I took a moment to stop and peer over the outlook - only to see the silhouettes of the palm trees and mountains in the distance.

I said to myself, “Eight years Cass, you’ve been here for almost eight years and god, you really have soaked up all the beauty this place had to offer haven’t you? You really have lived into the story of California - you’ve traveled all around the state, met countless amounts of souls, jumped in all the bodies of water, experienced all the play, started a business, lost a parent, re-parented yourself, lost a partner, became your ultimate partner. You have lost, yet, you have found all you ever wanted to and more. What you are feeling tonight is the beauty of a new goodbye and the opening for a long awaited hello.

Tonight, be with it all. Feel it all. Be grateful for it all, For this is just the beginning of the long awaited dream. The one you have seen for years. Hold onto the knowing and pay reverence for this chapter as it comes to a close. Keep the courage of placing this book up on the shelf as you use your grace and strength to pull out a new piece of paper and begin the new story. Enjoy, and remember; Have A Nice Walk…”

I felt a tear start to make it’s way down my cheek. I raised my right hand to slowly scoop up my tear - I held it up to look at it - I walked over to a flower nearby and gently poured it onto her.

I looked at magic and said “this place has nourished me for years and helped heal me - it is my hope that I can and have done the same in return.”

As the sun continued to set, Magic and I turned around towards our house.

As we made our way up the hill I could feel myself floating.

As if every step we took weights were being lifted off both of us.

I could feel us both levitating off the pages of the old story and making our way into the void between stories.

Tonight,We had a nice walk.

Remember this moment Cass.
